Understanding ClickBank Refunds

ClickBank RefundsAs a major retailer of digital products, ClickBank provides clients and customers with product return and refund processing services.

ClickBank will allow products to be returned within 60 days from the date of purchase for a full refund to the customer.

Read ClickBank’s official return policy below:

ClickBank will, at its discretion, allow for the return or replacement of any defective product within 60 days from the date of purchase. For recurring billing products, returns for more than one payment may be provided if requested within the standard 60 day return period. After 60 days all sales are final.

ClickBank maintains precise return and refund policies to help ensure customer satisfaction, as well as keep refund and chargeback rates low.

In this tutorial, we will examine how refunds are processed and what refunds mean for customers, vendors, and affiliates.

ClickBank allows customers to return any product purchased from its digital marketplace within 60 days of purchase.

There are several ways customers can request a refund through ClickBank:

  1. Customer Support Ticket: The suggested method to initiate a refund or cancelation request is to submit a support ticket at https://www.clickbank.com/orderDetail.htm
  2. Email/Phone: Customers can also contact ClickBank through email ([email protected]) or phone (1-800-390-6035).
  3. Customers can contact the vendor of the product and the vendor can request a refund on the customer’s behalf.

After customers or vendors contact ClickBank to request a refund, a ticket will be created within ClickBank’s Customer Support Ticket System to offer technical support for the product. At this point, the product vendors may be able to see the ticket and contact customers to assist them or change the status of the ticket.

As the creator of the product, ClickBank vendors have the ability to avoid a product return/refund in order to save the sale. Once a customer’s refund ticket has been created in the Customer Support Ticket System, vendors will receive an “open ticket” notification email and have 24 hours before the refund ticket is processed. This gives vendors time to offer the customer assistance in hopes of closing the refund ticket.  Note: If a vendor changes a ticket status from refund to another status the customer will have to approve the status change.

Vendors can access the Customer Support Ticket System through the “open ticket” notification email, or their ClickBank Master account if they have one setup.

Vendors should be monitoring the customer support tickets frequently to minimize refunds and ensure customer satisfaction. Vendors should also keep their refund rates low because ClickBank penalizes vendor accounts with a high refund rate. According to ClickBank, vendors with refund rate over 15% and/or chargeback rate over 1% over the past 60 days may be subject to additional fees or penalties, including removal from the Marketplace or account termination.

Vendors can also keep track of a product’s refund rate by logging into their ClickBank account and going to the Account Home screen.

Affiliates who make sales of ClickBank products through promotions do not have control over handling refund tickets.

However affiliates and vendors can keep track of how many transactions end up as refunds through ClickBank’s reporting tool. To view refunded transactions, perform the following steps:

  1. Login to the ClickBank account
  2. Click on Reporting tab and select Transactions
    ClickBank Reporting Transactions
  3. Enable the Refunds options under Search Criteria – Debits

  4. Click Go
  5. Transactions will display in the results window

Affiliates should also be cautious of promoting, or considering promoting, ClickBank products with a high refund rate.  If an affiliate is recommending products that customers frequently end up returning, they could make less profit and even damage their reputation.

ClickBank does not publicly provide a product’s return rate to affiliates. However affiliates could possibly ask the vendor what a product’s refund rate is, but it is up to the vendor to provide that information.
