What is ClickBank Gravity?

gravityClickBank gravity is a statistic for products in the ClickBank marketplace.  Gravity factors in the number of affiliates who earned a commission promoting a ClickBank product over the previous 12 weeks.

A product’s gravity amount is meant to be an indication of how many affiliates are currently making sales of the product. The higher the gravity amount, the more affiliates there are earning commissions from that product at the moment.

ClickBank’s definition of gravity is as follows:

“Grav: Short for GRAVITY™ performance statistic, this number represents a unique calculation by ClickBank that takes into account the number of different affiliates who earned a commission by promoting this product over the past 12 weeks. Since more recent transactions are given a higher value, this number can give you an idea of what products are “hot” at the moment, in terms of being promoted by many affiliates and making a good number of sales. However, high gravity can also indicate that there will be a lot of competition in promoting this product.”

How is ClickBank gravity calculated?

ClickBank calculates the gravity amount using a weighted sum method. ClickBank adds between 0.1 and 1.0 to the gravity total for every affiliate that has made product sales within the last 8 weeks. ClickBank determines the specific amount within the range, but more recent affiliate sales are given a higher value.

The gravity value amount starts at zero and usually ranges between 0-800.

A product with a gravity of zero indicates that no affiliates have made any product sales within the last 12 weeks.

A product with a gravity of 700 indicates that that there are likely hundreds of affiliates making sales of the product in the last 12 weeks.

ClickBank uses the gravity amount as a factor of a products overall “productivity score” when ranking products in the ClickBank Marketplace. Click here to see a list of all the factors related to the ClickBank Marketplace ranking.

How to use ClickBank gravity?

ClickBank affiliates often use gravity to reference a product’s popularity. Observing a low gravity can tell you the product has few affiliates making sales, whereas a high gravity tells you that there are lots of affiliates making sales promoting the product.

While it may seem positive that a higher gravity equals more sales and opportunity, a high gravity can also signify there is greater competition among affiliates promoting this product.

Depending on the type of product and the niche of the market, there is no ideal gravity number. Some marketers prefer to look between the 100-300 gravity range, while others may prefer a lower or higher range.
